1 Focus on Student Achievement
As a Partnership Support Organization [link], New Visions works with 76 public schools that are united in their commitment to excellence and as wonderfully diverse as New York City itself. Whether in large schools of more than 3,000 students or in new schools with fewer than 100 enrolled, New Visions supports students from all boroughs and achievement levels.
New Visions Schools
New Visions serves more than 34,000 students in large and small schools, from prekindergarten to grade 12. In addition, New Visions partners with several transfer schools — schools designed to meet the unique needs of students who have been unsuccessful in traditional schools and are in danger of dropping out

In addition to partnering with schools of all sizes and types, New Visions works with schools from every borough in New York City.

New Visions Students
New Visions schools have a greater proportion of black and Hispanic students than the citywide average. A higher-than-average eligibility for free lunch indicates that New Visions students are more likely to be from low-income households. New Visions’ population of students who are English language learners (ELL) or require special education services is at or slightly below the citywide average.

New Visions constantly reviews data to understand how to help students succeed. For example, current data show that many students enter New Visions’ high schools already struggling to stay on track. Eighth-grade scores indicate that approximately half of the students are behind grade level in English language arts (ELA) and math.

By using student data to work intensively with these students from day one, our schools are able to help students achieve more throughout high school.
